Dreaming happens and then it doesn’t

For me, there are some nights where I remember exactly what took place
and who was there and why I was thinking of them
in my mind I know it’s a dream so I can hold on a little longer to the illusion.
then there are other nights where I don’t remember.
I wake up in a cold sweat with my chest rising up and down like I ran three miles and my eyes
are either wide open or threatening to close.
dreams are not what I make them to be. I see other people, I don’t see myself.
I see what I want, but nothing I can have. I go to places I know I can never go to in real life. I get
reminded of everything I have and everyone I no longer seek out.
dreaming happens until it doesn’t.
