Upcoming Changes – Moonbow Magazine

Hello! It’s Esosa, the editor-in-chief of Moonbow Magazine.

Over the last year Moonbow Magazine has turned from a small passion project of mine, to a full on media collective. I’m so happy and it fills my heart with joy to not only be accepted into the lit mag community, but a broader community of youth organizations that empower young people to use their voices.

However, Moonbow Magazine is run by one person which is myself. From all the promotion, graphics, interviews, editing, curation, and administration, all of it is done by me. The tasks of the magazine while taking up a huge chunk of my time, were enjoyable and easy to manage during my time in high school. Now, as I am embarking on a new journey in university where I’ll have a bigger course load and more pressing matters, the magazine will be less of a priority and will take up less of my time.

The magazine isn’t going to be discontinued or forgotten about, and we’re not even going on a full hiatus. However the magazine will undergo restructuring to make the workload not as tedious. I’m unfortunately not at the stage where I’m am comfortable training and bringing in other people to work on the magazine, so this is my best solution.

Moonbow Magazine will be doing only 1 issue a year in the spring rather than 3-4 instead. We will focus more on interviews and other youth initiatives, but as of now i05 will be the very last Moonbow-only issue until May 1, 2025. The blog will be open on a rolling basis as well.

The last issue this year after i05 will be a collaboration between lit mags to raise money for those suffering in Palestine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Sudan. After this the new changes will come into affect. Please keep this last issue in your mind, as all contributions and awareness are wanted.

I am incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported Moonbow and made this magazine what it is. I could not have done it without your support. I trust that the future of Moonbow Magazine will be filled with more joy and wonderful support.

See you soon Moonbow fam!
