Hold My Hand

They didn’t want you to sleep on the floor

They didn’t like feeling like they were higher than you.

“It doesn’t matter-”

It mattered to them.

So you climbed in bed

And you were so close.

But as you slowly fell asleep, you spread out

Because you wanted space

But you were still holding hands when you woke up.

They were already awake, they told you later.

They could feel you pulling away.

You feel like them the next day.

You slept funny

So your whole arm is numb

And you can only regret

And hope their hand is still in yours
