Moving Statue

Before I knew it, I was
hugging you for the last
time. Wishes
dissolved into blaring silence.
My blood hydrated
cement in my limbs
as my soul hit the floor.
I drifted through a photo
album that day. I don’t know
if for you or for me.
Posed pictures with plastered
smiles, sitting on our semi-circular
sofa. Lively pictures with spirited laughs
sealed with steam from pots of food. Empty
slots in the final pages.
Memories of what was
warmed to a boil.
I am dragging my toes
into a future, filled
with concrete.
