Highway ramps
To places we’ve gone before,
Where redwood trees
Enclose lavender hideaways.
I’m not ready
For somewhere down the line,
When all is left behind.

Claire Kroening is a writer of lyrical, warm, picturesque poetry and prose. They’re also a freelance editor and proofreader for other writers. Their work has been published in a multitude of online and print magazines, where they are a Poetry Nation National Poetry Contest semi-finalist and a topical award winner from NJ National Poetry Quarterly. When not browsing the latest zines, they appreciate visiting art museums, working on their next endeavor at a local coffee shop, and studying creative writing.
